HPLC Columns for Hydrophilic Interaction Chromatography (HILIC)
Hydrophilic interaction chromatography (HILIC) is a popular alternative to normal phase and reverse phase chromatography. Similar to normal phase chromatography, stationary phases are used in HILIC chromatography, but with buffer systems which are identical to the reverse phase chromatography. These are aqueous buffer systems with an organic modifier, for example acetonitrile. In HILIC chromatography, water is the strongest eluent. A HILIC column is suitable for the separation of polar substances, carbohydrates as well as polar and hydrophilic compounds independent of charge and molecule size.
At Analytics Shop we carry more than 3,000 HILC HPLC columns from more than 15 manufacturers, including XBRIDGE and Atlantis HILIC phasesby Waters and ZIC® HILIC columnsby Merck, which were among the first HILIC phases to be developed.
SeQuant® ZIC® HILIC columns by Merck are among the world's most popular HILIC columns due to their favorable retention and robust performance. The high-performance zwitterionic stationary phase ensures reproducible retention of all types of compounds with poor retention that are difficult to separate in reverse phase HPLC columns. ZIC-HILIC is designed for compounds such as acids and bases, anions and cations, carbohydrates, metabolites, metal complexes, amino acids, peptides and much more.
