Hamilton HPLC Columns

PRP

Hamilton Polymers - Poly(styrene divinylbenzene) or PS-DVB is a robust polymer material used as the base framework for all the Hamilton polymer HPLC packing materials. The high degree of cross-linking with divinylbenzene makes the polymer bead extremely durable for high pressure applications. The most important properties are:

- Can handle pressures over 5000psi
- Have a usable pH range of 1-13 (allows the separation of biological samples in their natural state)
- Polymer columns can be cleaned with 0.1 M sodium hydroxide to remove strongly retained material.
- Swelling in organic solvents such as THF or chloroform is negligible because of the cross‐linking
- Can be operated at much higher temperatures as compared to silica based materials
- Excellent sample recoveries due to the lack of acidic silanol groups
- PS‐DVB resins are similar in retention characteristics to a C18 but do have a slightly different selectivity in some cases.

Anion Exchange Columns

Six polymeric column packings for the separation of inorganic and organic anions, DNA and carbohydrates are offered from Hamilton. The most important properties of each column are:

- X100: Polymeric column packing for separation of inorganic nad organic anions from 10 ppb to 500 ppm.
- X110/110S: Polymeric anion exchange column packing for separation of inorganic and organic anions from 20 ppb to 20 ppm.
- X500: Polymeric strong-base anion exchange packing with limited porosity for separation of proteins.
- X600: Polymeric weak-base anion exchange packing for gradient separation of proteins and DNA oligomers.
- RCX-10: Polymeric anion exchange packing for isocratic or gradient separation of carbohydrates.
- RCX-30: Polymeric anion exchange packing for isocratic or gradient separation of complex carbohydrates. 

Cation Exchange Columns

A few polymeric column packings for separation of inorganic and organic cations, glyphosate, organic acids, and sugars are offered from Hamilton. The most important properties are:
- X200: Analyze inorganic and organic cations using conductivity or UV detection. Separate mono or divalent cations depending on mobile phase conditions from 20 ppb to 200 ppm.
- X400: Analyze glyphosate and its metabolite in drinking water. The PRP-X400 provides unique hydrophilic interaction separations.
- X800: Separate transition metals or mono and divalent cations in the same run.
- HC75: Calcium, hydrogen and lead form columns for the separation of mono and disaccharides, organic acids, sugars, and sugar alcohols.

Ion Exclusion Columns

Hamilton also offers one HPLC column for ion exclusion chromatography, PRP-X300. This HPLC column is a polymeric, ion exclusion column packing for the separation of alcohols and organic acids 

HX-Sil

Hamilton HxSil C8 and C18 columns exhibit greater retention than most columns. This allows the separation of compounds that are not sufficiently retained on other C8 or C18 columns.
- C8: Hamilton HxSil C8 columns are well end-capped for retention time reproducibility and durability. The C8 demonstrates excellent selectivity needed for complex sample mixtures and gives shorter retention times than a C18.

- C18: Hamilton HxSil C18 columns are well end-capped for retention time reproducibility and durability. HxSil C18 columns exhibit greater retention than most columns and enhances the separation of compounds that are not sufficiently retained on other C18 columns.
