The most common microtiter plate is the 96-well-plate; that means 96 cavities.
The form of the cavities is variable and therefore every type is suited for a different verification procedure: U-bottoms are useful for washing and mixing samples. F-bottoms can be used best for calorimetry: They perform excellent results because of a good view while microscoping. V-bottoms allow a lossless pipetting. For immunoassays the best plates are those with C-bottoms. Their form enables a complete stirring.
Also the color of the plates is important for a good result. You can choose between transparent, black or white plates. Transparent plates should be used for optical measurements, for microscopy or for storage.
Plasma-treated plates are useful for cell cultures. They create ideal growth conditions.
All microtiter plates are labeled with alpha-numeric marks.
