The original laboratory refractometer, known as the Abbe refractometer, is named after the scientist Ernst Abbe, who invented the instrument at the end of the 19th century. Refractometers are being used to determine the index of refraction (and the brix value) of liquid, solid, semisolid and powdery material. We offer refractometers from well-known manufacturers such as Kern, Krüss and Mettler Toledo in various designs.
