Isolate, enumerate and presumptively identify Listeria species and L. monocytogenes from food and environmental samples with the Thermo Scientific Oxoid Brilliance Listeria Agar (ISO) prepared platesfollowing broth enrichment. The medium identifies Listeria species based on their utilization of X-glucoside giving rise to blue-green colonies. Listeria monocytogenes are further differentiated by their ability to highly produce lecithinase producing an opaque, white halo around the colony.
