Filter by Schleicher & Schuell

We offer all former filters by Schleicher & Schuell. Our product range includes all filter media (e. g. filter papers or membrane filters) by Schleicher & Schuell. Schleicher & Schuell does not distribute any filter materials anymore, as it is now part of Whatman (GE Healthcare Group), but we offer equivalent products from Whatman as well as equivalent and cost-effective alternatives from other well-known manufacturers such as Sartorius, Hahnemühle, MerckMillipore and Pall.

Schleicher & Schuell Filter Papers

The separation of Schleicher & Schuell depth filters is based on mechanical retention or rather on the absorption of particles inside the filter maxtrix. The following table shows which filters are equivalent to the ones of Schleicher & Schuell.

Product ExamplesSchleicher & Schuell FiltersFilter PropertiesApplication Areas
Whatman 43 Whatman 4 Schleicher & Schuell 589/1

Fast filtration, open fibre structure

Especially suited for coarse-flocculent and voluminous precipitates like iron aluminium or chrome oxide, for quantitative analyses, pressure or vacuum filtration, silicon determinations for stainless steal or pig iron analyses

Filtration of fine-pored precipitates like barium sulfate, stannic acid or copper oxide

Schleicher & Schuell Glass Fibre Filters

These glass fibre and quartz glass fiber filters manufactured by Sartorius and Whatman have similar filtration properties as the common known Schleicher & Schuell filters.

Schleicher & Schuell Filters equivalent Sartorius/Whatman Filters Description
Schleicher & Schuell GF 50 Sartorius MAG Whatman GF/A

Highly efficient for common laboratory filtration, clarificaton of puffer and reagent solutions, complies to many international standards like monitoring air and water pollution, food analysis, filtration of algae, bacterium cultures and proteins. Better retention for smaller particles than other glass fiber filters. Also used for clarification of protein solutions ans for filtrating solvents for HPLC

Schleicher & Schuell GF 51 Sartorius MGB Whatman GF/B Filtration of solved soliid materials in water or waste water analysis. Suited as mebrane prefilter. Can be used for large volumes.
Schleicher & Schuell GF 52 Sartorius MGC Whatman GF/C

Standard for clarification anf waste water and water monitoring, szintillation counting on the filter, cell collection, hydrocarbon analysis in which cellulose fibres are disturbing

Schleicher & Schuell GF 53 Sartorius MGD Whatman GF/D Allround membrane prefilter

Schleicher & Schuell GF 55

Sartorius MGF Whatman GF/F

Better retention for smaller particles than other glass fibre filters, clarification of protein solutions and solvents for HPLC
Schleicher & Schuell n/a Sartorius MG 550-HA Whatman 934 AH

Temperature resistance up to 550 °C, recommended to determine the totasuspendesolids content in water (TSS/ standard method 2540D)

Schleicher & Schuell n/a Sartorius MK360 Whatman QM-A
