A GC column may become contaminated over time by the accumulation of non-volatile material and may be damaged by the continuous condensation and evaporation of solvents and analytes. By using GC retention gaps, also known as precolumns, the lifetime of the GC columns can be extended cost-effectively. However, retention gaps are mainly used to focus the sample components, especially when large (liquid) sample quantities are introduced directly onto the column.
GC retention gaps are a piece of uncoated, deactivated fused silica capillary tubing placed between the GC injection port and the GC column. The columns are connected by press-fit connectors, which you can also find in our shop. Our product portfolio includes GC retention gaps for various applications, with different lengths as well as different inner diameters from manufacturers such as Agilent and Restek. From our own brand Altmann Analytik you will also find reasonably priced GC retention gaps at Analytics-Shopc.com. If you have any questions about our products, please contact our customer service.
