Plate count agar (also known as tryptone-glucose-yeast agar or casein-peptone-dextrose-yeast agar) is a granulated culture medium. It contains neither inhibitors nor indicators and is relatively rich in nutrients. The enzymatic digestion of casein (tryptone) with a high content of free amino acids is a source of nitrogen. The yeast extract primarily supplies the B-complex vitamins. Glucose is an energy source for bacterial growth, while agar is a solidifying agent. Our granulated culture media offer several advantages, such as excellent consistency, faster dissolution, longer shelf life, safety and easy handling.
