Below you will find a selection guide for selecting the right needle and syringe.
1. Which is the correct needle tip style?
Cone needle tip
Bevel neelde tip
standard general purpose is designed for optimum septum penetration and prevention of septum coring
Ideal for manual injection where piercing the septum in exaclty the same place is difficult
Dual Gauge needle tip
The small outer diameter (0.47mm) at the front allows the mega bore on-column injection
The bigger outer diameter (0.63mm) in the upper part of the needle allows for more stability when used with an autosampler.
LC needle tip
The 90Å square tip with rounded and polished edges eliminates damage to the valve’s rotor seal and stator face.
This needle tip is a good choice for general liquid dispensing.
Side Hole needle tip
Samples are filled and dispensed through the side hole eliminating septum plugging of the needle.
Ideal for large volume gas injection
2. Which needle?
the syringe with removable needle reduces cost over time because only the needle needs to be replaced if bent or blocked
possibility to use the needle for different applications (OD, different length or different tip)
Luer Lock termination: specifically desgined to secure Luer Lock needles, fittings, syringe filters
Luer-Tip termination: for Luer or Luer Lock needles and fittings
3. Which plunger?
Stainless steel plunger individually fitted to its own syringe barrel
Plunger ist not replaceable
Industry standard syringe for chromatograhpy applications
Gastight Plunger (PTFE Tipped)
Plunger with PTFE (Teflon.) tip
Suitable for both liquid and gas samples
Suitable for gas or headspace applications
Plunger is replaceable
Plunger-in-Needle (Micro Volume)
Plunger extends into the needle tip
Sample is contained only in the needle (no glass contact)
Ideal for dispensing very small liquid volumes
Extended barrel guides plunger during injection
Ideal for student use and robust and rugged
Made form Titanium / Nickel alloy
Virtually indestructible plunger
Ideal for lab personell with few experience
4. Syringe for Autosampler or manual injection?
For GC or LC Autosampler use an Autosampler syringe.
For a manual injection use a MANUAL Syringe.
NanoVolume Syringes: 0,5 μl – 5 μl
Manual Syringes: 5 μl – 500 μl
Gastight Syringes: 10 μl – 100 ml
