The three phases VDSpher C18-M, VDSpher C18-M-E and VDSpher C18-M-SE are available for very hydrophobic applications. Because of their multiple occupancy, these phases have a very high carbon content. The branched surface structure effectively shields the surface of the silica gel, which means that, despite the high hydrophobicity, it is even possible to work with 100% water as the eluent. As with the simply occupied phases, modifications that are not end-capped (VDSpher C18-M), end-capped in the liquid phase (VDSpher C18-ME) and end-capped in the gas phase (VDSpher C18-M-SE) are available so that the influences of silanol groups and the carbon content can be taken into account for the desired application.
