HPLC columns for hydrophilic interaction chromatography (HILIC)
Hydrophilic interaction chromatography (HILIC) is a popular alternative to normal phase and reverse phase chromatography. Analogous to normal phase chromatography, stationary phases are used in HILIC chromatography, but with buffer systems which are identical to the reverse phase chromatography. These are aqueous buffer systems with an organic modifier, for example acetonitrile. In HILIC chromatography, water is the strongest eluent. A HILIC column is suitable for separating polar substances, carbohydrates, and polar and hydrophilic compounds, regardless of charge and molecular size. In particular, you should pay attention to the enormous range of HILIC columns from the quality manufacturers.
