Sabouraud Dextrose Agar + Chloramphenicol in 90 mm sedimentation plates with a 30 ml fill volume for long-term incubation is designed for the detection of yeasts and molds in air and personnel monitoring in less critical environments. Sabouraud Dextrose Medium contains animal tissue digests (peptones), which provide a nutrient-rich source of amino acids and nitrogenous compounds for the growth of fungi and yeasts. Dextrose is the energy and carbon source. The low pH promotes fungal growth, and the addition of chloramphenicol inhibits the growth of the accompanying bacterial flora.
