Sample vials are available in a variety of designs and volumes. The selection of the correct vial depends on the preferred cap, autosampler type and sample volume. For small sample volumes (100 - 200 µl) micro inserts are recommended to be placed inside the vial. Micro inserts are available in different diameters (ND8, ND9, ND11). The products of our own brand Altmann Analytik guarantee high quality and an excellent price-performance ratio.
Detailed information you will find here.
Sample vials or inserts should be made of high quality borosilicate glass 3.3, similar to the mobile phase storage vessels. For light sensitive analytes, vials are also available in amber glass. When analysing polar compounds such as proteins, these may adsorb to the glass surface. In this case silanised vials should be used to ensure high recovery. Silanised glass is also inert under standard HPLC conditions and is only attacked under strongly acidic or basic conditions.
For high sensitivity methods, such as LC-MS, vials are also available that have been specifically tested for possible contamination during production or packaging.
