Tryptic Soy Broth with Disinhibiting Agents is a universal and highly nutritious complete medium that promotes the growth of a broad spectrum of aerobic and facultative anaerobic microorganisms, including fungi. The neutralizing additives Polysorbate (Tween®) 80 and lecithin reverse the growth-inhibiting effects of most disinfectants and antiseptics. Lecithin, in combination with Polysorbate 80, is effective against quaternary ammonia compounds, amphoteric surfactants, benzamidines, chlorhexidines, and dequadin. Polysorbate 80 inactivates benzyl alcohol, carbanilides, dichlorobenzyl alcohols, benzoic acid, p-hydroxybenzoic acid and its esters, phenols, phenylethyl alcohols, and solbrols (PHB esters).
