Sabouraud Dextrose Contact Agar + LTHTh – ICR+ was developed for the determination of total yeast and mold counts on dry, disinfected surfaces and on personnel in clean rooms and isolators. Sabouraud Dextrose Medium contains digestion products of animal tissue (peptones), which provide a nutritious source of amino acids and nitrogen compounds for the growth of fungi and yeast. Dextrose is added as an energy and carbon source. The low pH promotes fungal growth. The anti-inhibiting agents lecithin, polysorbate (Tween®) 80, histidine, sodium thiosulfate, and pyruvate are added to the medium to inactivate any disinfectant residues. To ensure safe transport after sample collection, the plate is supplied with a sealable lid (ICRplus; +) that cannot be lost. ICRplus plates are suitable for aerobic and anaerobic incubations. For aerobic incubations, the lid simply needs to be turned to the venting position, and for anaerobic incubations, it needs to be turned to the closed position. To better distinguish between SDA and TSA media, SDA media is dispensed into pink dishes.
